At the International Folk Art Market (IFAM) 2025 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Mama Imaculata Manek, a traditional weaver from Biboki, East Nusa Tenggara, proudly represented Indonesia by showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Indonesian handwoven textiles at one of the world’s largest folk art events.
During her participation, Mama Imaculata was accompanied by Fitria Werdiningsih, a representative from LAWE, who joined the event on behalf of Meet the Maker (MtM). As a delegate, Fitria supported the process by facilitating cross-cultural communication, assisting with product presentation, and strengthening the narrative of Biboki weaving to the international audience.
This participation is not only a source of pride for the people of Biboki and East Nusa Tenggara, but also a significant step in promoting wastra Nusantara (Indonesian textile heritage) as a living, relevant, and economically empowering cultural tradition.
LAWE expresses its appreciation to MtM for the trust and collaboration, and remains committed to supporting cultural preservation and artisan empowerment through both local and global platforms.
