Product Development

Edan-Edanan

Lawe is developing a line of items with the concept “Edan-edanan,” drawing inspiration from the traditional Edan-edanan dance colors. This dance is an attempt by humans to redirect attention away from mystical beings during major rites, and it is supposed to ward off evil spirits.

The Edan-edanan Series was created in the expectation that Lovers will always be under the Almighty’s protection, safe from the bad spirits and calamity.

Kotagede Series

In 2018, LAWE developed a motif inspired by the colours and patterns of buildings, which was then incorporated into designs and colour compositions under the name Kotagede Series.

Internal & External Upskilling

Lawe’s Upskilling program empowers women by teaching essential sewing skills, fostering economic independence, and building sustainable livelihoods. Participants receive comprehensive training in sewing and entrepreneurship, enabling them to enter the workforce or start their own businesses. Beyond income augmentation, EmpowerSew creates a supportive community, fostering confidence and dignity. The program’s impact extends to financial independence, community upliftment, and personal empowerment. By partnering with EmpowerSew, you contribute to real, positive change for women and communities, helping shape a future where every woman can sew her path to success. Contact us for more details.

Skill Development

EmpowerSew provides comprehensive training in sewing and garment production, empowering women with a skill set that goes beyond mere stitching. Participants learn pattern making, fabric selection, and quality control to ensure they are well-rounded in the art of garment creation.

Entrepreneurial Guidance

Our program extends beyond the sewing machine, offering business and entrepreneurship training. Women are equipped with the knowledge to start and manage their own small-scale enterprises, fostering self-reliance and sustainability.

Income Augmentation

By mastering sewing techniques, participants are not only enhancing their creativity but also gaining a practical means to supplement their income. EmpowerSew opens doors to job opportunities within the textile and fashion industry, as well as the chance to establish their own successful businesses.

Community Building

Through group workshops and collaborative projects, EmpowerSew creates a supportive community where women can share experiences, learn from one another, and build lasting connections.

At Lawe, we are committed to fostering women’s empowerment and economic independence through our transformative program, EmpowerSew. This initiative focuses on equipping women with valuable sewing skills, enabling them to not only create beautiful garments but also to take control of their own livelihoods.

Active Citizen

Social development through community-based solutions

Active Citizens is a programme by the British Council aimed at social development through community-based solutions to local issues.

In 2019, LAWE received training in the Active Citizens programme in Yogyakarta, alongside approximately 20 other participants.

Through this programme, the British Council provides training and shares methodologies with partners, who then pass this knowledge on to other communities.
